The Island of Anna Maria measures 7.5 miles from north to south and a fraction of a mile from west to east, surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico on the west, Tampa Bay and Anna Maria Sound on the east, and Sarasota Bay on the south. It is located on the Central West Coast of Florida, 50 miles south of the Tampa International Airport (TPA) and 15 miles north of the Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport (SRQ). The Island can be accessed by one of three bridges – from the City of Cortez on FL-684 (Cortez Avenue), from the City of Bradenton on FL-64 (Manatee Avenue), or from the City of Longboat Key on FL-789 North/Gulf of Mexico Drive.
The average Island temperature is 74.8 degrees Fahrenheit (January ranges from 50.1 degrees to 72.5 degrees; August ranges from 72.7 degrees to 91.3 degrees), and the average Gulf water temperature is 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Days in the winter months (December-February) are mostly warm and sunny, and nights may require a light jacket. Springtime (March-May) brings milder temperatures and refreshing breezes, creating the perfect atmosphere to relax and rejuvenate.
